This man had many more concerns to share than I expected him to, so I just let it run and cut out very little from our phone calls. I’m pretty sure he was using our private talks as a sort of confession booth. We covered insider trading, “nudge” mechanisms, dark pools, broker-dealers, the 2008 crisis, an options market scandal, and CBDCs.
I hope he can find a new field to work in, if he even needs to be employed any more… It sounded to me like his heart won’t be able to take much more. Or maybe this will be the year of pent-up candor.
